Summer magic in the Cranberry Wilderness.

Attention artists! 3 applicants will be selected to participate in the collaborative 2025 Artist in Residence Program at the Cranberry Basecamp. Each participant will have their own sleeping quarters but will share all common spaces. This program takes place in the summer, one of the most magical times to be in the mountains of West Virginia.

A weekend of guided visits/hikes to the Monongahela National Forest, the Cranberry Wilderness, and more

At the Cranberry Basecamp, we have worked hard to root the space in the place. That is, pulling inspiration from the surrounding area to inform the design, working with local artists and artisans, and being resourceful. Would you consider your art place-based and what does that mean to you? How does sense of place manifest in your work?

Hiking Part 1

We plan to hike and visit several areas that have rough terrain, do you have the proper attire/gear and ability to do a 3-mile round trip hike?

Does a 3-mile hike sound like fun?

Application Fee Sent

Please send a $10 application fee to @cranberrybasecamp on Venmo to finalize your application process. All application fees collected will be put back into the artist in residence program in the form of meals and events. Should application fees exceed the amount needed for the program – all remaining proceeds will be donated to the Richwood Art Walk. Should your venmo name differ from the name you have included in your application, please include your name in the transaction description on Venmo.

All artists are welcome to apply. Priority will be given to those artists from underrepresented groups. Additionally, we are seeking artists from a variety of mediums and will aim to select one artist per medium.
